Logistics Transportation Workers Must Be Priority for Vaccination
The Transportation Studies Institute (Instran) reminded the government to prioritize transportation and logistics workers as vaccine recipients following the vaccination plan next week.
Executive Director Instran Deddy Herlambang said that apart from health medical personnel, transportation and logistics workers are also categorized as emergency for receiving vaccines. Logistics transportation workers as frontline operators who are also credited with moving people and goods, especially basic foodstuffs from origin to destination, to remote parts of the country during this pandemic.
"Not to mention if their mass transport operators also meet many people every day," he said, Friday (8/1/2021).
The government has prepared a budget of IDR 73 trillion for the vaccination program in handling the corona virus (Covid-19) which is targeted to start next week. Corona vaccination will be carried out to 181 million people. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is targeting the vaccination program to be completed in 2021.
President Jokowi has secured more than 300 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. This need is in accordance with the target to achieve herd immunity from the Covid-19 pandemic.
"The total number that has firm orders is 329 million doses of vaccine," said the President when opening the Limited Meeting, Wednesday (8/1/2021).
